    Hello all,

Not being a Mac user is sometimes a disadvantage. Someone with a Mac running some version of OS-X has Microsoft Word open whenever the Mac is first turned on. I did not see any "startup" folder, but then I have no idea where the system folder is on OS-X. What are the various ways that a program can be made to start automatically at first boot? As a possible hint, this condition was probably created accidentally.

    Thanks!
    Jim

This is a big-screen iMac, if that helps.

In System Preferences under Accounts select the account in question and look under Login Items. You'll see a list of programs that automatically start when the person logs on.
