In the desktop war, the GTK battle raged between Unity and Gnome shell. Some people like them, and other very vocally detested one or both!

One argument about Unity is that it is an Ubuntu-only solution which both held back development and left all of the other distributions stuck with Gnome-shell.

Now, it seems, that Unity is made available for Fedora! Yes, it still has the Ubuntu icon, and still says Ubuntu in the panel, but it is a start.

Or to just cut to the chase
    Code:
    sudo su
    cd /etc/yum.repos.d/
    wget http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/GNOME:/Ayatana/Fedora_17/GNOME:Ayatana.repo
Also consider that only Ubuntu and Fedora have announced how they will handle UEFI.
