We had a low key November meeting with the discussion on progress and plans to move the DACS website to Drupal. I reviewed my initial progress on installing and securing the WAMP suite of Apache, MySQL and PHP on the DACS web server virtual machine. Presently we use Internet Information Server (IIS) along with standalone installations of PHP and MySQL. The latter are needed to support the DACS Forums which run the phpBB software. The advantage to the WAMP suite(wampserver.com) is ease of installation followed by ease of version upgrades for each of the component software packages. Switching from IIS to Apache should simplify (or reduce problems with) Drupal , CiviCRM and phpBB, all of which are developed on Apache. The trick is to move to the new software components without breaking anything. The next Drupal SIG meeting will be Thursday, December 9th at 7pm in the DACS Resource Center.
