I think there was somebody at the July (2011) General Meeting asking about clearing out a laptop that was running hot.

I just ran across this article and wanted to post a link to it in case that person pokes around in here, or anybody else faces the same problem.

Heck, my laptop has been running a little hot lately, and I've assumed it was something with Linux but maybe . . .

A while ago, without opening the laptop up I used an air duster can and blew all of the opening to make sure dust hadn't collected there and is blocking air flow. I know it is a temporary fix at best, because the said dust will still be inside the laptop this way. I just didn't want to crack it open at this time.

Now it is running noticeably cooler, and the fan is turning on less (which has the side benefit of saving battery life).
