For anybody that wants to try out the Gnome Shell, you can install it and give it a whirl. I'm going to try and give it a run by the next Linux SIG meeting!

I don't believe Ubuntu 10.04 (due out end of April) will run Gnome Shell by default, but afterwards it should be included. Fedora 13 may include it (due out early May) and I have no idea about openSUSE.

Disclaimer: do not try this on a production/main machine. While there are ways to turn it off, it seems that it is not 100% bug-proof at this time.
