At September's General Meeting the speaker was from ConstantContact, which I did not know at the time was the email service behind those 10-line URL links I don't trust and won't click on in many organizations' emails.

Since DACS emails use ConstantContact, can you explain why the replacement indirect URL becomes so lengthy? I suspect ConstantContact loads all kinds of tracking code into their URLs.

And is DACS, in effect, passing my email address to the ConstantContact?

    nsb,

We do not use Constant Contact at DACS. Our member communications are sent using CiviCRM, which is also our membership database. The funny URL's allow Civi to track opens and click-throughs. We do not share our membership mailing list with anyone. You can click and still rest easy.
